Some Verona Views
Young lovers scratch graffiti onto this door near the Juliet's balcony. It's
supposed to bring good luck. Although the Shakespearean play is set in Verona
there's no proof anything similar to the Romeo and Juliet story happened here.
That didn't stop the Veronese in the early 1900s from designating a
12th-century balcony as the official Juliet one. For a few thousand lira
you can step out onto the balcony and be photographed there. We didn't do a
balcony photo.
We found the architecture and the patina of the buildings much more interesting.
